Get to know me

Hello! I'm Maisie, a freelance creative editor and bookseller based by the coast in Cornwall.

I have been glued to the pages of books ever since I first learned how to read. Countless notebooks filled with story ideas, character profiles and forgotten chapters have followed me through my childhood and into adulthood. I have been feeding my literary love as a bookseller for the past five years, immersed in books and getting the right words into the right hands every day.

I graduated in 2019 with a First Class degree in English and Creative Writing. Over the course of my degree, I realised that writing is one skill but editing is another - and it's something I truly enjoy. There's pure satisfaction in refining a block of text into something stronger.

I have worked with a myriad of small businesses and industries, including content work for female-focused charity The Hypatia Trust, biographic copy editing for classic rock n' roll record label Easy Action, and creating digital communication content for freelancers.

I'd love to hear about your project, fiction or non-fiction welcomed.

As well as a lifelong word person, I am a keen knitter, a fledgling sewist, an enthusiastic collector of crafts, and a greyhound owner. If you've got a project involving a chat about yarn or lazy long dogs then I'm your gal, but I'm open to almost any genre and style.

Currently interested in: long-form essays, fantasy & magical worlds, forgotten classics

Currently working on: in-depth book reviews, finding a cure-all to the book hangover, knitted socks
